Ukraine “Wrap Up”

Posted by Darla

Well here I am at 4:30 in the morning, back home and wide awake… the effects of living eight hours ahead for 3 1/2 weeks.
In trying to “summarize” this trip I keep coming back to the word “encouragement.” We are preparing for a trip to Israel in January and were required to read a […]

Home Again - Sunday

Posted by Darla

Thank you for all your prayers. Keith and I arrived home around 3:30 p.m. and the Setters about 7:30 p.m.
To catch up…
We left Prague on Saturday morning and drove to a concentration near the Czech border. It is hard to describe what we saw there. Maybe because I am tired and just […]

Greetings from Prudeks

Posted by Darla

This is our second day in Prague. It is still cloudy and a little chill in the air.
Yesterday we had a wonderful time with Kelly and Fred (they send greetings to you, Shirley!). We first spent time in their home, which is just two blocks from where we are staying. Fred went […]

“Kapoot, Backtrack, Pea Soup”/Angel

Posted by Darla

These three words became the words describing our trip from Berlin to Prague!
We arrived in Berlin, checked into our Hotel and decided to go to the city center for something to eat. We walked to the the bus stop and got on the bus. When we tried to pay for the fare the […]

From Kalinovka to Berlin

Posted by Darla

We are in Berlin and will leave for Prague tomorrow morning where we will visit the Prudeks.
Our last night in Kalinovka was great. We had our traditional “farewell” party and it was fun. Lots of laughs and stories and praising God for His faithfulness. We left money for the Church to purchase guitars. They will […]

Setters Arrive

Posted by Darla

Lou and Sue arrived Friday night. Their flight was delayed in Chicago 2 hours due to high winds and tornado warnings, however they were able to make all their connections and arrive in Kiev on time.
Here is a short recap of Friday. Keith worked at Igor’s house most of the day. I worked at the […]

Thursday Update

Posted by Darla

Monday we went to Kiev with three Pastors and the Son-in-law of Yaraslov to purchase a portable sound system for the Church. What an adventure! We began in Igor’s car with two “Igors” who speak no English. We then picked up another Pastor who was walking along the road; he also didn’t speak English. We […]

Monday Morning/Ukraine

Posted by Darla

We had a great day yesterday in Kalinovka. We worshiped together in the morning service. Keith spoke about our act of worship which is not just on Sunday morning, but 24/7. I brought greetings from First Covenant and all the members of former teams. We sang “Your Grace Still Amazes Me.” […]

Saturday/Ukraine

Posted by Darla

Greetings from Kalinovka! This is my third time trying to write a post and I keep getting kicked off, so I will try to type faster and pray it stays long enough.
Yesterday we went to Kiev with Pastor Igor, Ala (leader of AWANA) and Sasha. With money sent from First Cov we were able […]

Friday Update

Posted by Darla

We spent all of yesterday traveling by car to different stores in Kiev. We bought food for the root cellar: canned fish, oil, sugar, flour, rice, pasta, juice, etc.
Today we will go to Kiev again to a book expedition to buy books for the Church library and for Igor.
Last night we went to Bogdonovka and […]
